MEXICO ENCORE was written for the festival de Marimbistas in Chiapas, Mexico. It features some of the most popular local tunes like the Chiapanecas waltz. Mexico Encore explores many different aspects of marimba musical language, including body music passages, and is ideal as encore for a duo marimba recital. Souvenir From Mexico by Ivana Bilic

IVANA BILIC is an internationally recognized marimba soloist and a versatile percussion artist. She has appeared as soloist with orchestras such as the Symphony Orchestra of the Danish Radio, Slovenian Philharmony, Philharmony Vitold Lutoslawski from Wroclav, Dohnany Orchestra, Pannon Philharmony, Danubia Symphony Orchestra and with all the major Croatian orchestras.. Ivana regularly gives marimba and percussion clinics and masterclasses in USA, South America and Europe.
Since 1996, Bilic has been First Timpanist of the Symphony Orchestra of the Croatian Radiotelevision. She teaches at the Zagreb Music Academy. Ivana has performed at international music festivals ( Music Biennale Zagreb, Musicora Paris, Melos Ethos Bratislava, Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Trieste Contemporanea, Tempus Fugit Tel Aviv, Julian Rachlin and Friends, and many more) and is a member of several chamber music groups.
In 2008, in cooperation with the Samobor Autumn Music Festival she founded an annual marimba event called Ivana Bilic Marimba Week (IBMW). Ivana also performs, arranges and co-edits new works for percussion. She participated in the huge international commissioning project of ZMF New Music for Marimba in association with C. F. Peters Corporation and Bridge records as one of the few marimbists that premiered and recorded the commissioned works. Ivana is the author of several marimba and vibraphone solos and a duo published by Edition Svitzer, Malletworks and Cantus. As the recipient of all the major Croatian awards she has been invited as performer and presenter for gala anniversary concerts and live TV shows. In 1998. Ivana received the Best Young Croatian Artist Award.
Ivana also received 2 Porin Awards – the prestigious Croatian Discographic Award - for best performance in the classical field. She regularly records for international public radio and TV stations. Born in 1970 in a family of musicians, Ivana studied percussion with Prof. Igor Lesnik and graduated from the Zagreb Music Academy in 1993.
